Cold calling tips for Recruiters: Before, during and after the call
Below are some steps that recruiters should employ before, during and after making a cold call. The steps will help you (recruiters) conduct cold calls in a professional, effective and successful manner.
What to do Before conducting the cold call:
Be aware of the purpose of the call and set specific targets: Are you trying to fill a vacancy? Or pitch a candidate to a client, to arrange an interview or something else?
Prepare yourself thoroughly. Research about the Client (Company), and the industry they specialise in, the person you are making the calling to (in regards to their background and interests) and the job role. Research plays a key role in the process but it is only one aspect of the process as focus should be building a relationship with whom you are talking to in a manner which keeps them engaged and interested throughout the call.
