Hatch Beauchamp is a small compact village 7 miles south-east of Taunton. Our council has nine members, who are responsible for advice to planners on applications in our parish, for the maintenance of the village, and for supporting all initiatives and activities that make for an inclusive community. We are also responsible for the maintenance of footpaths in the parish, and for addressing topical issues as they arise such as the lack of transport following the cancellation of local bus services and the possible widening of the A 358. One member of the council also sits as a trustee of the Village Hall. In the last two years the council has worked hard to improve its communications, with a new website, Facebook group, newsletter, etc. This all makes the Clerk’s role a satisfying and interesting one.
