Community Support – Support Workers – Full and part-time
Who we are:
Hamelin Trust is a truly local charity supporting individuals with learning disabilities through respite care, a residential service, various day opportunities and community based activities.
We have been providing services in the South Essex area for the past 30 years and offer our service users safe and stimulating environments and we require dedicated and flexible staff to help us maintain a person-centred, tailored approach to those we support.
Our Community Support team support children and adults with learning disabilities to engage in a range of community based activities – like bowling, going to the cinema, shopping, swimming – anything most people do regularly and take for granted!
Our support sessions are mainly between three and six hours (no short 30 minute stops!)
Most of our service users are supported on a one to one basis, so this will involve lone working, but you will receive all necessary training and be fully introduced to the service users before you are expected to support them alone.
As well as working as part of a committed and supportive team, you will also be liaising directly with families to ensure person centred care is delivered for each individual.
Rotas are planned at least a month in advance (so you know when you’ll be working). Working alternate weekends is a requirement.
Being a car driver is essential and although using your own car is great (with correct insurance) we also have our own cars available.
You will have previous experience of working with learning disabilities, ideally in a community setting or similar care role with adults and/or children.
You will be passionate about promoting the independence of the people you work with and have a desire to support them to achieve their full potential.
You will be caring, confident and capable and put the safety and wellbeing of our service users at the heart of your work.
What we give you in return:
A supportive and encouraging environment for you to work in and develop your skills.
Free enhanced DBS check and training up to diploma level.
Free onsite parking
A competitive salary of £9.00 plus 25% working enhancement for weekend and Bank Holiday working.
The satisfaction of working for a well-established local charity that has been giving excellent person-centred care and support for 30 years.
If you require further information, please don’t hesitate to call the HR team.
