Arts University Bournemouth is the leading professional arts university dedicated to creative education and career success. Offering courses in art, design, architecture, media and performance, we are passionate about our specialist subjects and dedicated both to education and the creative industries which we serve.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced counsellor (0.5 FTE) to join the counselling team within Student Services. The post holder will support the co-ordination and delivery of a confidential counselling service to students, complying with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, autonomously managing a specialist caseload to ensure the AUB counselling service provides support to students at the point of need. Additionally, the post holder will provide counselling supervision to a small team of sessional counsellors.
Applicants will need to have a recognised counselling qualification and a minimum of two years’ post qualifying counselling experience, together with in depth knowledge of the BACP Ethical Framework for Counselling Professions. A counselling supervision qualification is desirable at appointment and essential within one year; candidates should be willing to study for this university-funded qualification in their own time. BACP accreditation and knowledge of working within a higher education context would be an advantage.
The role involves working with young people and vulnerable individuals and, therefore, requires compliance with the University’s Safeguarding Policies, including the requirement for an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
