UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON-3
UCL Office of the Vice-Provost (Education & Student Affairs) and UCL Arena Centre for Research-Based Education
Head of Operations
Full Time :
The appointment will be on UCL Grade 8.
The salary range will be £43,884 – £51,769 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
The Head of Operations oversees the operations and administration of two departments whose work impacts on the entire university: OVPESA, which drives strategic improvement to UCL teaching and learning; and the Arena Centre for Research-based Education, which provides education expertise, training and resources to enhance teaching and improve the student experience.
The work of OVPESA and the Arena Centre is closely aligned. Using UCL’s 2016-21 Education Strategy as our road map, we lead on education enhancement and institution-wide improvement projects such as personal tutoring, BME attainment, assessment and feedback, academic careers framework, academic writing support and the Introductory Programme.
This is a new role for a highly organised and process-orientated individual with excellent interpersonal skills to establish themselves as the administration and operations lead across two high-profile central teams. It offers scope for a strong candidate to design and implement a pan-team approach to administration that will underpin and facilitate the success of the wider remits of both teams. You’ll also be encouraged to build a strong culture of professionalism, high performance and autonomy within the growing operations team, supporting members to develop their skills and their profile across the two teams.
You’ll be an experienced senior administrator with substantial budget and office management experience. You’ll use this experience to develop and manage department-wide operations including staff, finances, health and safety, security, IT, estates and administration, will ensure systems and processes are fit for purpose, and that UCL, Faculty and Departmental policies and strategies are fully implemented at all times. You’ll also take responsibility for ensuring that the administrative functions of OVPESA and the Arena Centre are aligned, delivering efficiencies by removing duplication and streamlining processes wherever possible.
Additionally, you’ll oversee the operational effectiveness of some key institutional projects underpinning our education strategy.
