A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and inspirational manager with creative ideas to join us at a time where we are taking part in a major reshaping of the way we manage biological samples.
As the Head of the Research Tissue Bank you will play a fundamental role in developing and maintaining a highly efficient tissue provision and management service. You will work with other teams across the other core facilities and the wider institute to develop and implement new processes, as well as challenging the team and yourself to explore ways of improving quality and efficiency through new working practices, automation and process streamlining.
You will develop and lead a growing team of scientists and technicians, and you will be responsible for direction, setting standards, coordinating requests and helping them to prioritise work and hone their skills to ultimately provide a high quality and reliable service to the institute.
We will be establishing a HTA approved Research Tissue bank on site at the Sanger institute, to handle the collection and storage of the institute’s human tissues. To lead the establishment of the tissue bank and take responsibility of it day to day operation, we have created a new position of Research Tissue Bank Manager. In addition to the human sample collections, your team will also be responsible for assisting with the import, export and storage of non-human samples to facilitate important scientific programs such as the Darwin Tree of Life.
