Can you picture our patients at the other end of the phone?

As a Senior Clinical Advisor you will focus on a single patient at any time, able to give them your full professional attention. You’ll be assessing a wide breadth of health and clinical needs and using your professional clinical judgement, supported by decision support software, to assess and deliver care. That will be providing triage, medication advice, health information and implementing care packages within our NHS111 call centre. Within the Emergency Operations Centre (999) you will critically analyse and prioritise patient needs in this fast-paced environment.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) provides 24 hour urgent and emergency healthcare services through our NHS111 and Emergency Operations Centres (999). Unsocial hours payments

All time on Saturday (midnight to midnight) and any week day after 8 pm and before 6 am

Time plus 30%

All time on Sundays and Public Holidays (midnight to midnight)

Time plus 60%

This requires generalist and specialist skills as a tele-health professional. To excel in this role you will:

• Be registered with an appropriate regulatory body (e.g. HCPC, NMC) with current valid registration (but ifyou are returning to practice, please give us a call!)
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Have a high level of clinical reasoning
• Be able to deal sensitively with distressing, emotional situations
• Be able to work with a variety of clinical specialists to ensure safe clinical processes for patients
• Be committed to self-development and maintaining your skills
• Have the flexibility to meet service needs and the enthusiasm to deliver high quality patient care

We offer full training and, depending on the role, this will include Manchester Triage System or NHS Pathways training and enhanced telephone-triage communication skills.

We require full and part-time staff, to cover roster patterns across evenings, weekends, nights and public holidays. We have opportunities in both our Emergency Operations Centre (999) and Integrated Urgent Care (NHS 111) teams, and we’ll find the best match for your skills and experience.

You will complete a short work-based exercise (the sort of thing that you’ll probably be doing as part of your current role) plus a structured, but informal interview (where we will ask you to tell us about times when you’ve demonstrated the competencies that are important to succeed in this role).
