Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust
Can you picture our patients at the other end of the phone?
As a Senior Clinical Advisor you will focus on a single patient at any time, able to give them your full professional attention. You’ll be assessing a wide breadth of health and clinical needs and using your professional clinical judgement, supported by decision support software, to assess and deliver care. That will be providing triage, medication advice, health information and implementing care packages within our NHS111 call centre. Within the Emergency Operations Centre (999) you will critically analyse and prioritise patient needs in this fast-paced environment.
This is an exciting time to join Yorkshire Ambulance Service as we develop new ways of working to provide the right care, at the right time, first time to all our patients requiring either urgent or emergency care. Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) provides 24 hour urgent and emergency healthcare services through our NHS111 and Emergency Operations Centres (999). YAS is an integral part of all the health communities across Yorkshire and we are committed to delivering the highest quality patient care.
In addition to the attractive salary, our offer includes unsocial payments where appropriate under Section 2 of the NHS Terms and Conditions (excerpt below), an attractive NHS Pension, a generous holiday allowance as well as ongoing training and support for your continual professional development and progression.
Unsocial hours payments
All time on Saturday (midnight to midnight) and any week day after 8 pm and before 6 am
Time plus 30%
All time on Sundays and Public Holidays (midnight to midnight)
Time plus 60%
This requires generalist and specialist skills as a tele-health professional. To excel in this role you will:
We offer full training and, depending on the role, this will include Manchester Triage System or NHS Pathways training and enhanced telephone-triage communication skills.
We require full and part-time staff, to cover roster patterns across evenings, weekends, nights and public holidays. We have opportunities in both our Emergency Operations Centre (999) and Integrated Urgent Care (NHS 111) teams, and we’ll find the best match for your skills and experience.
At interview, it’s an opportunity for us to ensure you have the right competencies we need, but also for you to ensure we’re right for you. We’ll do our utmost to make you feel very welcome. You will complete a short work-based exercise (the sort of thing that you’ll probably be doing as part of your current role) plus a structured, but informal interview (where we will ask you to tell us about times when you’ve demonstrated the competencies that are important to succeed in this role). But we’ll also tell you all about the role and answer any questions that you may have.
