Are you an experienced procurement professional with an interest in sustainable and clean energy generation?
Nuclear fusion, the process that powers the Sun, can play a big part in our carbon-free energy future. The UK Atomic Energy Authority is the worlds leading fusion research laboratory aiming to lead the commercial development of fusion power and related technology.
As a strategic procurement manager, you will be joining an inclusive and supportive environment involved in a wide variety of projects ranging from construction of office buildings to complex R&D facilities, apprentice training schools and innovation centres. Key accountabilities will include:
-Full responsibility for your procurement team flexing and developing resources to meet the constantly changing strategic deadlines.
-Addressing and resolving conflict directly and constructively within the team, senior managers and stakeholders.
-Prime procurement and commercial responsibility for all projects within your team.
-Works with BEIS and Cabinet Office (Liaising with government) for all Commercial requirements at >£10m.
-Identify and implement all commercial impacts of new / existing commercial proposals and take full responsibility, informing the Head of Procurement (HOP) of all novel and contentious issues.
-Implement contract management processes to ensure measurable performance against the requirements throughout the contract life cycle.
-Ensure the procurement team are compliant with EU law and UK Regulations when undertaking public procurement under OJEU.

The UKAEA hosts and manages the JET nuclear fusion energy experiment on behalf of the EU and is also home to the UKs MAST-U fusion energy experiment. UKAEA also works with industry and other third parties to develop new technologies currently in Remote Handling and Materials research. Following recent UK funding two new centres of excellence in tritium fuel handling and component testing and validation are being built. Knowledge skills and experience
– CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply) qualified.
– Degree level or equivalent experience
– Experience of working with public contract regulations (OJEU) since 2015 on end to end procurements
– Relevant expertise and experience to act as the lead expert for complex/critical Procurement and Commercial issues and influence both internal and external stakeholders.
– Dynamic and inspirational leader
– Experience of NEC form of contract
– Knowledge of CEMAR system
– Creative and innovative approach to problem solving
