Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Chief Nurse
Location: Milton Keynes
Competitive Salary
Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (MKUH) are seeking to appoint an outstanding clinical leader to the role of Chief Nurse to work with our Board and the Council of Governors as we continue our journey working with partners to transform health and social care for our local populations.
The hospital has around 550 beds, including day acute and neonatal beds and employs around 4,000 staff, providing a full range of acute hospital services and an increasing number of specialist services to the growing population of Milton Keynes and surrounding areas. The hospital sees and treats around 400,000 patients each year, and all in-patient services and most outpatient services are provided on the main hospital site. Over the last 10 years, the Trust has invested significantly in its site and has developed a number of new services and pathways to improve outcomes for patients, as well as the experience they receive whilst in our care. A number of further developments are planned for the coming years as the health demands of the local population change.
As our new Chief Nurse, you will demonstrate a passion for excellence for people’s healthcare, have a compelling track record of success, either as an existing Chief Nurse or an aspirational nurse leader ready to take that next step. As a naturally curious and innovative leader with a passion for patient-focused care, you will bring challenge and fresh thinking to our Board of Directors, enabling us to continuously improve at every level. You will also evidence a strong alignment with our core values and behaviours and demonstrate how you reflect these alongside our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion. You will be enthusiastic, energetic, outgoing, and a highly visible nursing leader.
At MKUH we work with many partners in the local and regional health economy, including local healthcare providers, universities, councils and third sector organisations. We play an active part in the Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care System (BLMK ICS), working more closely together to provide better coordinated care. The Chief Nurse will have a passion for empowering patients and families to ensure all voices are heard to co-produce new service models.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape and deliver the future of local services by sharing your talents and expertise to maintain patient safety and treatment effectiveness, improve the experience of patients, help transform services, work with local partners and to make a positive difference to the health and wellbeing of our communities. Looking ahead our focus will remain, whatever challenges we face as a hospital and as a nation, on providing the excellent care and services the people of Milton Keynes expect and deserve.
MKUH seeks colleagues as diverse as the population we serve, and we are committed to diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from everyone.
If you can see yourself reflected in our values and ambitions, we would love to hear from you.
