Deputy Care Manager (Llanbrynmair) Part Time

About the role:

You will be shift lead and support the Manager in running a small Children’s Home in a rural North Powys community. The home supports 1 or 2 children/young people with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties due to their early life experience (Age 11-18). You will support the management of a safe, healthy, learning, fulfilled home where children have their voices heard and acted upon to achieve positive outcomes.

  • You will enjoy leading by example a small team that is reflective, resourceful, and has a culture of trust and open responsibility.
  • You will promote and provide professional specialist support to ensure a safe and effective service, delivered in a way that is sensitive to the needs of children and young people.
  • You will have a QCF/ NVQ Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care Children & Young People Wales and Northern Ireland (including predecessor qualifications as stipulated by Social Care Wales) and be looking to progress in Children’s Residential Care.
  • You will require a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care as stipulated by the Social Care Wales or be working towards the relevant qualification, completing within the first year of employment with a desire to support the Residential programme in Powys Children’s Services.

What you will do:

  • You will be required to lead on a shift basis on a rota with Senior Residential Care Workers, including sleep in duties.
  • You will support the Registered Manager in the daily management of the home.
  • You will build positive relationships through nurture, teaching connection before correction with a patient and calm manner and promote healthy, safe routine by creating a warm, inclusive home.
  • You will be a creative facilitator of opportunity at home and within the community. Leading the team to organise and promote activities for children and young people to learn new things and explore interests, hobbies, and life skills.
  • Work in partnership with families and carers of young people in achieving the aims and objectives of the young people’s plans.
  • You and the team that you lead will follow agreed policies, procedures, and legislative standards in your work. You will actively promote, implement, and embed best practice.
