Engineering Manager – Surrey – up to 70,000 + Benefits – Ref 1562

I am currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager to work for a leading engineering organization based in Surrey. Salary up to 70,000 + Benefits.

The organisation has a fantastic heritage having been established for over 30 years and are renowned for the best at what they do within the defence and military sector on a global scale. They are a small yet specialist team employing close to 50 people, but turnover is over 20 million annually with that figure set to in continue moving upwards based on the ever-increasing demand for their products and systems.

To support the growth of the business they have the need to appoint a brand new Engineering Manager on a permanent basis.

In this role as the Engineering Manager, you will be managing a multi-disciplined team of engineers consisting of 15 people and their disciplines will vary across mechanical, electronics, software and systems. Given the nature of projects my client deals with, they can change direction very quickly and therefore your primary responsibility will be looking at resource planning within the department to ensure the necessary skills are allocated to the right projects at the right time to ensure the operations is running optimally. Within this role you will also be responsible for the typical management duties such as training, performance appraisals and ultimately ensuring all team members are achieving their goals and objectives whilst being motivated to do so.

The role is based in the Surrey area and you will be required to be onsite 5 days a week.

Essential Requirements:

• Previous experience as an Engineering Manager, Technical Manager or similar
• Technical background (ideally Electronics)

Desirable Requirements:

• SC Cleared, DV cleared (current or lapsed)
• Previous experience in the Defence sector
• Previous experience managing a small team of people
