Leonardo UK
Job Description:
At Leonardo, we have a fantastic new opportunity for a Lead Training Programme Developer. As part of the Leonardo Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) UK Line of Business, the role of Lead Training Programme Developer for Future Combat Air System (FCAS) Through-Life Services (TLS) has become available.
The FCAS programme is going through a concepting and assessment phase as part of a UK collaboration between the MOD and 4 key industry partners (Leonardo, Rolls Royce, MBDA and BAE SYSTEMS). TLS are critical to the success of the project – being key to the downstream delivery of the system performance and, historically, being a major cost driver. The challenges facing the FCAS project are to deliver a solution in 50% of the traditional schedule and 30% of the historical costs – innovation and transformational activities are central to the delivery of a successful outcome. The programme is fast-paced and is become International with our partners Japan and Italy who joined the programme in 2023.
The FCAS is a system of systems and covers a range of concepting from Core Platforms, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and cutting-edge Weapons Systems, with an integrated ground system, which seeks to align with the wider national and international operational space. It aims to develop a more capable, cost effective and sustainable solution than current platforms, seeking to influence the early design of the equipment as well as provide the through-life solution framework. All this requires the Leonardo team to work closely with the other Leonardo lines of business in addition to our Partners, MOD and international colleagues.
TLS consists of everything needed to keep the system operating effectively. This includes all of the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and associated business disciplines: Training, solution management, continuous improvement, equipment upgrades, spares, repairs, support, failure prediction, equipment health status monitoring and modelling, knowledge management and information management. The future solutions are expected to be highly dependent on information systems, use of synthetics and digital analytics, including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
The team operates in an Agile project management framework both internal to Leonardo and externally with our National Industry Partners and MOD. We work in close collaboration with external partners and internal equipment development teams.
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, Project Engineering Manager and closely with the FCAS – Future Combat Air (FCA), FCAS Equipment staff and the TLS team, to optimise the delivery of Design for Support and TLS concepting both internal to Leonardo and externally with the UK & International Partners.
