Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Manager – Build Line Support

Location: Barrow-In-Furness (On-site)

What you’ll be doing:

• Manage the interfaces between Manufacturing Engineering, Design, Operations and other stakeholders

• Provide supporting information to Senior Management to determine the team resourcing requirements and to maintain the correct manning levels in line with the agreed Engineering Plan

• Take responsibility for training and development of the whole team (with attention directed towards achieving professional accreditation)

• Lead a team of multidiscipline professional Manufacturing Engineers, planning and co-coordinating their activities to meet departmental and business requirements

• Ensure Manufacturing Engineering activity is undertaken with agreed toolsets and with stakeholder support

• Develop, implement and govern capable methods of manufacture, assembly, disassembly and repair (including method of verification) which can meet customer and business requirements for Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring compliance to design intent
• Develop and monitor and report against KPI’s to ensure efficient running of the team

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

• Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
• The role holder will not be the ‘expert’ in each, but is able to discuss and understand context and implications of technical issues across a number of manufacturing engineering disciplines
• Understanding of how sub-discipline Manufacturing Engineers are deployed, organised and governed, and how they are integrated with other disciplines
• Previous management & leadership experience within a technical manufacturing environment

Desirable:

• Strong understanding of customer requirements plus an awareness of industry approaches and standards

• Understanding of the additional requirements and constraints imposed on the business by the nuclear regulatory authorities

The Build Line Support team:

As a Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a Manufacturing Engineering team, either in a project or functional area, to Design, Define, Modify, Optimise and Govern the Manufacturing, Assembly Build and Test processes to enable safe and predictable delivery of the design intent to cost and schedule.
