We’re really excited to be recruiting for this successful, interesting and expanding manufacturing business in their search for a Materials Controller to work as part of the Purchasing team. As the Material Controller you’ll be responsible for ensuring the effective planning of manufactured and/or purchased materials to maximise the effective use of resources and minimise any disruption caused by constraints.

Job Title: Materials Controller

Location: Whitstable, Kent

Salary: 34,000 – 38,000

Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am – 4:30pm and Friday 8am – 1:30pm

Hybrid: Yes, on Mondays & Fridays in agreement with the Team Manager.

As a Materials Controller your main duties and tasks would be:

• Ensure component requirements are correct and communicated to suppliers in a timely, professional manner.
• Understand and implement any MRP generated ‘messages’ and amend supplier schedules accordingly.
• Manage open order books to ensure appropriate order coverage and optimal inventory levels.
• Update and maintain all relevant system requirements pertaining to the role.
• Ensure inventory levels of components under individual control are in alignment with departmental objectives.
• Ensure adequate information interchange and interaction with other Supply Chain and Production areas.
• Ensure all activities undertaken are in line with current policies and procedures.
• Ensure external logistics costs are optimised using normal transportation methods.
• Highlight future supply risks.
• Provide monthly forecast of expected deliveries.
• Proactively resolve invoice queries.
• Continually challenge the traditional planning methods and seek new simple and effective procedures.
• Identify and remedy excess inventory.

Ideal skills for the position:

• Experience in a similar planning position.
• Sound working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably Infor.
