We are seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teacher with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of the current legislative framework, including the SEN Code of Practice and the ability to empathise with children who have complex emotional, social, and behavioural difficulties.
Day to Day of the role:
Utilise assessment and teaching strategies tailored to children with SEN.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the KS4 and KS5 Secondary curriculum.Address ASD/SEMH issues with sensitivity, providing support for emotional and physical challenges.Manage groups of children with severe emotional, social, and behavioural difficulties effectively.Plan and teach lessons that meet the individual needs of each child.Foster emotional, social, and behavioural development through structured support.Build and sustain positive relationships with children and adults.Work collaboratively as part of a team within LA guidelines.Operate with a degree of independence in managing your class.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice, Curriculum 2000, and Literacy and Numeracy Strategies.Understanding of ASD/SEMH issues and the ability to engage in physical intervention when necessary.Proven group management skills for children with severe emotional, social, and behavioural difficulties.Strong planning skills to cater to individual children’s needs.Sensitivity to the needs of children and their families.Excellent relationship-building skills with both children and adults.Commitment to teamwork and the ability to work independently as required.Insight into the emotional, social, and behavioural development of children in a special school setting.
