Proposals Manager

Due to our extensive future pipeline of work, we are expanding our proposals team and are now looking for a proposals manager responsible for leading the quality elements of submissions and embedding bidding best practice processes . You will coordinate proposals teams, manage timelines ensuring on-time delivery of our proposals to the highest standard.

The customer – and understanding their needs – is at the heart of everything we do. As Proposals Manager, it’s your responsibility to lead diverse teams on each proposal and use your outstanding writing skills to create compelling, customer-focused proposals that deliver our 1-in-2 win rate target.

As such your role will help identify customer-focused key value propositions, competitive advantages and differentiators to create winning proposals that maximise our chances of success.

Essential and Desirable Criteria

Essential:

• APMP Foundation
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
• InDesign
• Microsoft Office Suite

Desired:

• A Level/Degree English Literature
• Background utilising excellent writing skills e.g. Communications, PR, Journalism
• Schedule (Resource/Time) Management Platforms
• Photoshop/Illustrator

2. Creativity and writing: Crafting compelling narratives and persuasive proposals is a central aspect of the job; you’ll take pride in effectively communicating our response to customer needs through well written, engaging proposal content.
3. Problem solving: It’s usual to encounter complex challenges during the proposal development process, such as aligning diverse ideas from multiple stakeholders, addressing technical complexities or mitigating risks. You’ll enjoy the problem-solving aspect of this role, finding solutions that meet both customer requirements and internal needs, then sharing any learning with the team and wider business.
4. Leadership and teamwork: Our Proposals Managers work closely with cross-functional teams, including estimators, designers, construction managers and subject matter experts as needed. You’ll enjoy collaborating with diverse professionals, leveraging their expertise and fostering teamwork to develop comprehensive and well-rounded proposals, while providing the team with positive leadership throughout the submission.
5. Bidding best practice: With a passion for ensuring bidding best practice on every proposal, you’ll have extensive experience of leading proposals from pre-bid workshops, through storyboarding (answer planning), drafting, peer reviews, formatting and submission, and onto lessons learned and feedback analysis.
6. Desire to learn: Our industry is dynamic and ever-evolving, with new technologies, methods, and trends emerging constantly. You’ll enjoy staying updated on industry developments, learning about new innovations and implementing best practices to enhance the proposal development process.
