Senior React Native Engineer, Oxford (Hybrid), 100k to 120k DOE

Avanti Recruitment is currently partnering with an incredibly exciting Oxford Uni spin off, who are developing a digital platform to revolutionise the treatment of mental health disorders. The Senior React Native Engineer will have excellent ideas on how to transform and migrate the current product offering, utilising a demonstrable track record (ideally in the digital healthcare space) with React Native for mobile and Next.js and Node.js for Web, hosted on AWS.

The current product is built using Vue.js, Laravel, Capacitor and Ionic with a MariaDB database. We are looking for a talented, influential self-starter who can lead the migration of the platform across mobile and web, to create a faster, better, cleaner application.

The core objective of this app build / migration is to make the product even more performant and a pleasure to use. This role will suit someone with immaculate attention to detail, a keen eye for design and first class UX.

We are looking for someone who is keen to work from the Oxford office 1 day per week with the view to increasing the amount of office days over time. However, an exceptionally talented Remote React Native Engineer based in the UK, may be considered.

Proven experience of leading architectural change and migrating an existing app across web and mobile would be a strong indicator of a suitable candidate.

Core skills required;

  • Excellent hybrid mobile development experience using React Native
  • Excellent front end web development experience i.e HTML, CSS, Tailwind, TypeScript, React.js (Next.js)
  • Experience with back-end technologies i.e node.js
  • Experience with making decisions around architecture, design patterns and coding best practice
  • Experience with Unit Testing and code reviews in an Agile Scrum environment

Desirable skills;

  • Exemplary academic record with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar
  • Experience in the digital healthcare domain (or other regulatory environment)
  • Experience with existing tech stack (Laravel, Vue.js, Capacitor, Ionic, MariaDB)
