Qualified Social Worker Children’s Fostering Team – Supervising Social Worker London Borough of Waltham Forest

• Qualified Social Worker / Social Work Professional required to join a statutory Fostering Service in a Supervising Social Worker role
• Undertaking recruitment, assessment and supervision of Foster carers

The post is that of Fostering supervising social worker within Children and Families Services and is responsible for all aspects of recruitment, assessment, support and supervision to approved foster carers, connected carers and private foster carers.

The fostering service in Waltham Forest has re-shaped, bringing together its assessment and support service to provide consistency in support that we provide to foster carers. Social workers working in this service will be committed to establishing trusting relationships with their carers during the assessment stage, building on this further post approval and supporting them during their first placements when they are at their most vulnerable.

Applicants will have a working knowledge of relevant legislation and experience of working in children’s services. They will be enthusiastic and highly committed to providing support and challenge to our foster carers to ensure that the children of Waltham Forest receive quality care in a warm family environment.

To be considered, it is essential that you have a recognised Social Work qualification (Social Work Degree or Diploma in Social Work) and full Social Work England registration as well as recent or significant relevant experience in a similar role.

Please note this vacancy is subject to the London Agency Worker Pledge Agreement which stipulates:-

• Permanently employed Social Workers are restricted from undertaking an agency role with a London Pledge Borough for a 6-month period following departure (if leaving perm role with London Authority, they cannot move to an agency role with another London Authority for 6 months)
• 3 weeks’ notice period may be required (at discretion of manager/council)
• Agency workers must have complete 2 years post AYSE (3 years PQ total), before they can be considered for agency roles within London
