Are you an experienced experimental physicist or a research and development engineer with excellent communication and influencing skills?
Do you have a background in fusion science or nuclear physics, or experience with experimental disciplines such as UHV systems, cryogenics systems, CVD reactors, semi-conductor production, pumping technology, chemical engineering, waste management or similar disciplines with a relevant degree or equivalent qualification?
The UK Atomic Energy Authority has an excellent opportunity for enthusiastic and flexible engineers or experimental physicists to join their team within the Hydrogen-3 Advanced Technology (H3AT) department. The department consists of several operational teams, a science team and a commercial team. Your role will primarily be working in the commercial team and the science team, utilising the unique capabilities offered by H3AT to support the specialist requirements of customers such as industrial partners, national and international research councils and universities.
Key accountabilities include:
Project planning and reporting
Experimental detailed design
Procurement, build and commissioning
Experimental operation and analysis of results
The H3AT department operates the Active Gas Handline Facility (AGHS), to support the JET experiment, and the H3AT tritium laboratory based in UKAEAs new Materials Research Facility (MRF). In addition, the H3AT department is responsible for implementing the upcoming new H3AT facility – a world leading technology development centre for tritium technologies and other technologies requiring similar infrastructure such as carbon-14 and hydrogen technologies.
